CHALLENGE

Busy executive didn't have time or energy to organize during home renovations and temporary relocation.  Stuff accumulated in offsite storage to the point where she couldn't step into her new dream closet.

SOLUTION

Thoughtful editing helped identify the items that supported the client's vision of her new life in her new home.  If it didn't support the vision, it wasn't allowed to claim space in the new place.

LESSONS LEARNED

Be careful with offsite storage - "Out of sight out of mind" brings temporary relief, but you have to deal with the stuff eventually.  Don't waste time and money storing things you won't use again.

Edit before you move - Don't bring old clutter into your new space.  Bring only things that will enhance your new life.  In this case, we sent hundreds of items to charitable organizations and consignment stores, opening up space and bringing in money via cash and tax deductions.

Pack "like with like" - Think about where things will go in your new space.  Grouping things that will be kept together in the new space makes unpacking exponentially easier.
